Peter Watson
Since taking up post in September 2006, Peter Watson has successfully managed Business Link through a transitional period in the region, playing an integral role in challenging the perception of the organisation, successfully proving in just one year that the reformed Business Link Northwest truly does mean business. The MD has a strong private sector based business background that has included starting and owning businesses, with a wealth of management skills that furnish him with strong business acumen – essential in his demanding role at Business Link Northwest.
Peter started his career as a plastering apprentice, where his ambition and drive was soon recognised and he was taken on by Balfour Beatty as a management trainee. The construction company sponsored him through a Business Studies degree at Lancashire Polytechnic (now UCLAN). He then moved on to a footwear manufacturer before taking up varying operations management and divisional leadership posts at the British Printing Company.
In the meantime, he raised six children – three girls and three boys, including two sets of twins, and gained an MBA from the Henley Management College.
